Yes, this is absolutely true, I own Zinn's book, and I distinctly remember that the slaves and indentured servants were having a good time empathizing with and banging one another.
If they had not done this they would

funding as men's sports. Everyone talks about

talks about how many white women benefited.

we can find a way to admit a functionally liberate
black athlete into an elite school but we have
problems when a person who has overcome tremendous
odds to make into an elite school.
This is where you and I differ. First, by liberate I take it you mean "illiterate"? Second, may I take the liberty in asusming that point of your argument is that many Black students often face worse consitions financially, academically and socially that makes it harder for them when compared to relatively affluent white peers? While I agree that this is sometimes the case, it doesn't address the fact that poor Whites with family incomes less than $10k score higher on the SAT than affluent negros with family incomes over 80k. So that pre-emptively takes care of any "poverty" excuse. Also, while it is true that some Black students may still receive a subpar education and grow up in an environment that is not conducive to learning, is it really in their best interest to put them into a fast-paced envrionment for which they don't have to academic skills to cope with? I know it sounds mean and unfair, but if a person can not perform at a certain level in secodary school, why in the world would you push that person into an extremely competively atmosphere with peers who are leagues ahead of them. These people would be lacking skills to keep up--admittedly through no fault of their own--and in the end would not well. Of course, if they failed or drop-out it would be racism that this person was for whatever reason not properly prepared for the rigours of an elite university. If you try to argue that they can learn these skills while in college, then I ask why couldn't they learn before hand in a less stressful setting?
There is a major
major drug problem with whites and meth that dwarfs
the crack epidemic of the 80's but that gets very
little press. Meth is fueling and upsurge in HIV cases
in the bay area among white gay men. That gets very
little press. Take even a casual look at some of the
M4M or casual encounter ads and look for ads
mentioning "tina" (slang for Methamphetamine) and you
get a glimpse of just how bad the problem is. You
don't see black people requesting a partner with meth.
