Description I so agree with you. It seems that people today have a totally different set of values than they used to. It seems that they think they are successful if they can trick people into giving them money. This, to them, means they are a "success". I think being a success is if you achieve a happy, stable life on your own and don't rip other people off as part of it.

2 of my very own "friends" are a case in point. One of them has declared bankruptcy twice now. She's 40 years old. The last time she declared bankruptcy was at the same time that Saturn was taking her to court for not making her car payments. I was amazed that she actually went to court with this explanation --
"I'm in the middle of declaring bankruptcy, so if you just give me a few more weeks that will go through."
She actually thought that the court would say 'Oh well, if you're gonna declare bankruptcy, then that's ok with us.' She totally didn't understand that none of her creditors would be happy that she was stiffing them of the money she owed them by going bankrupt. She obviously thinks that's how debts are handled - borrow a bunch of money and then declare bankruptcy.

Hey - I was in bad credit card debt and I got into one of those programs that works with the creditors to help you pay it off and I paid off my credit cards. It took me years, but I did it. I didn't make any empty promises that I didn't keep.

Another friend of mine borrowed $5,000 from her uncle to go to Art School. She promised to pay him back. But she didn't. Her uncle talked to her again and again telling her she needs to pay that money back. She even promised him she would. She lied! She told me that she thought her uncle was being unfair to expect her to pay that back!!!! She thought I would agree with her. I sure as hell didn't. What a loser.

People like that, in my opinion, are a bunch of sorry liars who should not be trusted EVER!
