PeoplePC is looking for a Quality Engineer to play an important role in testing PeoplePC's client based ISP software and technologies. Specifically, this individual will participate throughout the PeoplePC client software product development life-cycle and become a major contributor to all client testing efforts in delivering a quality product. In this role, the individual will:
. Test PeoplePC's ISP software and its supporting technologies. This includes installation, server side interaction, service functionality, and compatibility against existing PeoplePC ISP software and other ISP software. This also includes testing the software against all supported windows operating systems (win95, win98, winME, winXP sp1 and sp2, windows 2000, and windows vista)
. Work closely with the PeoplePC client testing team to create and maintain test plans and test matrices for the current PeoplePC ISP software and future revisions of the software.
. Attend project team meetings to report test status, prioritize new bugs, measure and report on product or service launch readiness, and work overall project issues.
. Interact with development, project and product management throughout the PeoplePC client software product development life-cycle.
. Participate in Quality Engineering initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of testing as well as the overall development process.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
. BS / MS or equivalent preferred.
. At least 5 years of professional experience in an Internet related field focusing on testing ISP software.
. Strong working knowledge of at least one development language such as
C++,
Java, .asp, asp.NET
. Familiarity with XML and HTML.
. Strong working knowledge of three tier based web applications.
. Strong working knowledge of MS SQL or other relational database systems.
. ISP / Web services experience.
. Proficiency using browser / mail / news / PPP clients.
. Strong working knowledge of the Windows 32 Platform API.
. Good working knowledge of networking, TCP/IP and all related protocols, services client/server applications.
. Familiarity with analog modems, and other technologies providing connectivity to the Internet.
. Familiarity with RADIUS protocols.
. Familiarity with SMTP and other mail based protocols.
. Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
. Familiarity with Apple Macintosh a plus.
. Good verbal and written communication skills.
. Self-directed, motivated, with a bias toward quality.
. Strong motivational and interpersonal skills.
. Flexible and willing to adjust quickly to changing priorities.
. Excellent time management skills; ability to multi-task.
. Ability to work successfully within a team and effectively lead projects when called upon.
