Senior Project Manager
Lava Technologies (03 / 99 to 09 / 03)
Responsible for designing & developing new products for emerging technologies which included touch screen terminals, plasma display panels (PDPs), LCDs, wireless communications and the world wide web. Developed end-to-end solutions encompassing project initiation, design and construction. My responsibilities included the writing, editing and designing of Formal Proposals and responses to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs; Planning system architecture; The designing of easy-to-understand but aesthetically pleasing Graphic User Interfaces (GUI); The marketing and formal presentation to various government agencies and large corporations; Managing Hardware and Software teams of 15 people to carry out designs offshore (Manila, The Philippines); Sourcing and purchase contract negotiation with hardware vendors based in Taiwan and South Korea.
a. Government Elections (Biometric Touchscreen Voting Terminals)
From concept to working prototype, I headed the hardware & software development for Biometric eVoting touchscreen terminals (a secure and accurate system that can easily accommodate a voting population of 80 million people.) Front-end used Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Photopaint 10, Corel Draw 10 and C, Java, MS SQL Server 2000 and MS Access as the backend. “Hands-on” systems analysis of existing procedures, the streamlining of the new design, and GUI flow.
b. Gaming Industry (Touch screen Casino Slot Machines and Lotto)
Inspired by the success of the electronic Voting project, I initiated the branch out to Touchscreen Slot Machines and Lotto Terminals. After working out the initial concept, it wasn't difficult to carry over what was previously done with the eVoting project to this new application with the additional feature of internet connectivity. With the creative use of pictures, animation, and a lush graphic background, it heralded 21st century Gaming by making it a more colorful experience.
c. Banking Industry (ATM)
In cooperation with De La Rue of the U.K. I also initiated the ATM product line of Lava Technologies.
d. Supermarket, Fast-food & Restaurant Industry (POS)
Implemented grocery Point-of-Sale systems for Shopwise supermarkets. Touchscreen Drive-Thrus and Customer-as-user POS terminals were two innovations I came up with to develop more uses for touchscreen technology.
