Hello, my name is April and I have worked as a medical assistant for 8 years now and my last 4 years have been a Family Practice office with the Santa Cruz Medical Foundation in Scotts Valley – While working for a mostly geriatric practice I have come to find that I have an extreme soft spot for the elderly. Now I finally have the opportunity to help in an area where I was unable to do before due to a full time job.
I am looking for a position where I can work with an elderly person in need of transportation to and from the doctor, grocery, pharmacy and any other outings in the close surrounding area. I am also able to cook a decent meal and have knowledge of prescriptions and could help keep up with management of pills (making sure the right pills get in to the right box for the right time of day.) I am also very open to assisting with other needs within reason such as opening mail, some lifting and maybe even walk a dog on occasion. I am not looking for a live in position or hygiene maintenance.
I have been fortunate to be able to stay at home with my two children this last year and the only request, for everyone’s sake, is that whomever I assist should like children. In the mornings I will only have my baby with me and if needed in the afternoon I might have my 5 year old (kindergartner) depending on my husband’s work schedule. It is a good chance though that he would be off during the week (he is a Firefighter in Scotts Valley with a very odd schedule). I am available any day you need me, even weekends. I take my daughter to school at 8:20 and pick up at 11:45AM M-F. Other than those times I’ll be there. I don’t mind occasional last minute requests within reason.
I'm a professional individual, with a reliable vehicle with running boards, clean driving record, and a great listening ear. I have great references when needed, and I am excited to help as soon as possible. I prefer to stay in Scotts Valley or San Lorenzo Valley but if outside that, e-mail me and we can chat.
