Paralegal/Health Law Information Specialist
Job Description:
The California Medical Association (CMA), a nonprofit advocacy organization that promotes the well being of patients, the protection of public health, and the betterment of the medical profession, has an opening for its Paralegal/Health Law Information Specialist position in its Center for Legal Affairs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate interested in public health/policy graduate school or law school. A four-year college degree is required, and some full-time work experience is preferred. This position requires an ability to discuss and explain complex health law and policy information to a varied audience as well as a significant desire to learn about health law. Appropriate training will be provided to the successful candidate.
General duties include: responding to telephone, email, and written requests for legal information from physicians, patients, and healthcare agencies, performing research for staff attorneys on various health law topics using Westlaw, journals, and the internet, maintaining the Center’s online legal information system, and assisting in the production of the Center’s annual publication, California Physicians’ Legal Handbook.
There are two positions available. Start dates: May 1, 2006 and June 1, 2006.
CMA offers a 35-hour work week and an excellent benefits package.
