Shipping Packing Inventory + Personal Assistant
This unique part time gig is a dream job for the right person. Its a mix of packing merchandise for mailing, being in charge of inventory and stocking, plus helping me with daily personal stuff as needed. More detail follows:
About Us
This is a home office and an internet mail order business. This business has been in operation for 13 years and has been online since 1995, and it grows every year. We sell items to benefit animals and animal lovers (animals will be in the work space). We are liberals who work hard to save the world. I am semi-disabled - see below for duties required to help me as a personal assistant.
Days and Hours
We ship 3 days a week currently ~ Monday, Wedsnesday and Friday which are the days we need someone. The hours are 10 - 3:30 for now. We anticipate that there will be an increase in hours or days this Spring.
Job Duties Summary - Shipping Packing
Including but not limited to the following: selecting the correct merchandise and carefully packing in boxes, placing these boxes in postal service bags for daily pickup, maintain and rotate inventory, record incoming shipments and put stock where it belongs, organize and re-organize stock as needed, put "pick sheets" in numeric order, maintain shipping supplies and other supplies, notify us when stock is getting low, take out trash and break down cardboard boxes, help owner as needed and be graciously and enthusiastically willing to help with animal litter boxes and daily vacuum of work area.

Including but not limited to the following: graciously helping me with litter box cleaning, trash, and errand running. Basically - de stress my life, not add stress to it.
Skills
Because this is a home office and my business is extremely important to me the person I'm looking for must be really personable, compassionate, smart, a go with the flow kind of person who loves animals, who's into environment and other lefty issues, who likes being on their own, and finds stuff to do when things slow down, and who even point out to me a better way to do things. Attention to detail is a must. As is being an intuitive thinker. Good hand eye coordination. Good analytical skills. Must be able to read and comprehend English. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Some bending and stooping. Must be able to put pick sheets in numeric order. Must be a cheerful and positive person who can listen and follow instruction. Prefer a health conscious person. If I point out an error you must respond with grace - no snipping at the boss !
Education & Experience Requirement
Experience with gift wrap or order packing would be great as we like packages packed very nicely. We'll show you our way of packing and you can show us yours. As for education we are believers that the self taught are the truly smart ones.
Working Conditions & Location
You'll be working in my workroom which is a room in our garage. Its a pleasant environment and a bit funky (hardly corporate!) with animals hopping around, but not underfoot. Near Glen Park Bart and Muni 23 and 43. Parking is super easy. Important - Workspace is a fragrance Free Zone

Starting salary is $10 hour for the first month while your being trained. After a trial period of one month if its worked out salary goes to $12 an hour. We use a payroll service.
