A cohesive team of educators makes an outstanding school. We are seeking an Office Manager who has the heart, expertise, and devotion needed to create an exemplary school. The Office Manager will have diverse responsibilities both in the office and school-wide.

KIPP HEARTWOOD ACADEMY
KIPP Heartwood Academy is a new, growing, college-preparatory middle school that opened in July 2004, becoming the first public charter school in Alum Rock (East San Jose, CA). Students, parents, and staff members commit to excellence, doing whatever it takes to make sure every single student matriculates to and is successful in the nation’s most rigorous high schools and colleges. In addition to academic rigor, we build students’ character and teach them responsibility, developing the tools necessary to be successful in life. Approximately 90% of our students will be the first in their families to go to college. Last year, our students outscored every school in our local district and some of the highest performing districts in the Silicon Valley on the California Standards Tests.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Office Manager will be responsible for maintaining student and school records, purchasing, and organizing school field trips. S/he will act as a parent/community liaison, and assist with public relations and student recruitment. In addition, the Office Manager will have various other school-wide and front office responsibilities including breakfast/lunch duty, greeting callers/visitors and acting as the school nurse. It is KIPP Heartwood’s philosophy that everybody at the school teaches to some extent; the Office Manager will not only work closely and collaboratively with teachers but will also have opportunities to substitute and teach. All staff members must reinforce the school’s student management policies and procedures and make themselves available to help students, parents, and staff via cell phone at night and on weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking team players committed to KIPP Heartwood Academy’s mission and high expectations as well as to their own professional growth. In addition, we are seeking bilingual (English / Spanish) candidates with a strong desire to work with a racially and economically diverse student body. Candidates must not only be able to multi-task but must also be detail-oriented, organized, efficient, flexible, polite, and computer literate. All applicants must possess at least a BA, pass a criminal background check, and be quick learners.
Highly Desired (but not required) Qualifications:
- Leadership and/or counseling experience and/or ability to teach enrichment classes (ex: music, art, sports)
- Experience working with student information systems such as PowerSchool
- Experience working with accounting and fiscal management systems
