I have openings for drum set lessons and I am seeking enthusiastic students!
A little about me:
I've been playing drums for 32 years and I'm well versed in most genres of music: Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, Reggae, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Hip Hop, Jungle,
Drum 'n Bass, playing Breakbeats, etc.
I've spent countless hours playing all sorts of gigs in a variety of venues. I am currently in an electronic band called Meat Beat Manifesto, which has been on tour throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. For the past 10 years I have toured and recorded with Meat Beat Manifesto, The Orb and others.
There are many subtle things about playing a groove which don't translate well from a book and are better taught through direct communication. This is where I come in! I can offer you a solid drumming foundation, including:
* Basic reading skills
* Fundamental Rudiments
* Playing solid grooves in most styles of music
* Incorporating dynamics into your playing
* And many other technical aspects related to becoming a good drummer
I am teaching out of my rehearsal space near the Oakland Coliseum. It's a cozy room with 2 acoustic drum kits and 1 electronic drum kit; with 24 hour access. My rates are very reasonable at $30 per hour. Feel free to contact me at any time. I am very relaxed, friendly and good with kids as well as adults. Beginners to advanced are welcome. It's never too late to start playing an instrument and to enjoy making music!
