Back to photographical basics: The high quality pictures come from a good lens and exposure, NOT the high pixel numbers. Typically a 2+ Mega Pixels chip can deliver clear picture on computer and standard print. Spending $500+ just for higher pixel number which you may never use it (exhaust memory, reduce total # pictures can get), probably is not a good investment.
Most snapshot cameras on market are very low optical zoom (3X or less), and tiny small lens aperature/diameter (f5.6), these will NOT give you a closeup quality picture at dimmer afternoon time!!
Only the 1st-rated camera equipped higher optical zoom (8X+) and large aperature (f2.8+), and usually they will cost you US$600+; but this Olympus has all: 8X optical zoom and large f2.8 lens, with a much cheaper price tag, BEST CHOICE, BEST BUY!!
