Job Summary: The Supervisor is responsible for managing master’s level social workers and performing direct work with clients, including carrying a small caseload.
Salary Range: $48-54k, DOE, FTE. This is an exempt position. The position hours are negotiable between 75-100% FTE.
Qualifications: MSW from a state-accredited institution (no exceptions), and, either a minimum of two years full time social work or case work employment in a licensed foster family or adoption agency, or a minimum of three years of full-time social work or case work employment in the field of family or child welfare services. Either previous supervisory experience, or an understanding of principles related to employee supervision. Other requirements include possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to work some nights and weekends.

Supervisory:
For positions relevant to position:
Assist with hiring
Provide orientation and supervision
Supervise and direct the work
Review the performance of staff and apply disciplinary and reward procedures as merited
Maintain up to date knowledge of and insure that work of staff meets agency, state and federal standards
Oversee collection of statistical data
Direct Services:
Worker of the day duties
Training of prospective foster or adoptive parents
Provision of after-hours emergency on-call services to certified families on a rotating basis with staff social workers
Participation in post-adoption camp, either on site or as worker on duty in office
Participation in recruitment, initial assessment of prospective foster or adoptive parents, and in conducting public information meetings for same
Assistance with applications
Responsibility for all aspects of the homestudy and homestudy updates, following the guidelines established by the agency
Collaborative work with families and with other agencies during the child-matching process
Conduct certification visits to assess health and safety issues in homes for foster care purposes
Placement of children in certified, licensed or adoptive family homes
Provision of post-placement supervision including direct contact with the child and the certified, licensed or adoptive parents and writing of reports as required by agency policy and in agreement with the child-placing agency
Provision of supportive services to the certified, licensed or adoptive families including development and updating of the needs and services plan, education, counseling, referral, brokering, advocacy
Responsibility for record-keeping in compliance with agency and licensing requirements, especially documentation of family visits
Investigation and follow-up regarding child abuse and neglect and other complaints following the format established by the agency in accordance with state regulations
Develop and maintain knowledge of appropriate resources for families, especially familiarity with Adoption Assistance Program, SSI, and health and mental health benefits through Medi-Cal
General:
Development of beneficial working relationships with county and private agencies and community groups
Attendance at workshops, conferences, and training relevant to responsibilities
Travel and evening and weekend work as assignments dictate
Participation in regularly scheduled individual supervision, department and agency staff meetings
Other duties as assigned
