Job Requirements: We have an opening for an entry level Assistant Database Administrator. If you have just graduated from college, and you are looking for an opportunity to become part of a stable company, you have just found it! We seek candidates who possess outstanding communication skills, leadership, and self-management skills in addition to a strong analytical background and/or programming ability. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Math is required or related technical fields. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Systems Environment: The District Attorney’s Office has an installed base of approximately 400 computers and 16 servers. Operating systems and applications include: Windows NT/2000/XP, Windows 2000/2003 server, Exchange 2003, SQL 2000, Microsoft Office Suite (97, 2000, XP, and 2003), and WordPerfect (8, 10, and 11).
Examples of Duties: Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
• Database software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Database creation and maintenance
• Stored procedures design, development, and maintenance
• Backup/recovery and archiving
• Database system monitoring and tuning
• Database system production support and problem resolution
• Development and documentation of database management policies, procedures, and standards
• Write SQL queries to support ad-hoc reporting
• Design and write stored procedures
• Monitor and take corrective action as required to fix any problems with database performance, availability, data integrity, or resource utilization
• Provide timely technical support to both application developers and end users
• Plan and perform upgrades to applications and SQL databases as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
• Access and Crystal Reports
• Visual Basic, C++, Java, or C in an object oriented capacity
• SQL Server 7.0 or SQL Server 2000
• Any scripting languages (Vbscript, jscript, javascript, etc)
License: Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required.
