CHAIRSIDE AND CLINICAL SKILLS
Perform all phases of chair-side assistance in preventive, restorative, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic, orthodontic, periodontal, and pedodontic treatments. Take and develop radiographs, including periapicals, bitewing, panoramic, and cephalometric films. Assist in laboratory procedures including, pour impressions, fabrication of custom trays, bleach trays, trutains, suck- downs for temporaries, and base plates. Perform intra-oral procedures as directed by dentist. Chart examinations and treatment information as relayed by dentist.
EQUIPMENT/FACILITY MAINTENANCE
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare tray set-ups, maintain equipment and keep operatories/office organized and clean, order supplies for all dental procedures and maintain stock for back office.
PATIENT RELATIONS
Assist patients in feeling comfortable throughout chairside procedures. Instruct patient in oral hygiene care, care of dental appliances, and common causes of tooth decay. Relay dentist’s instructions to patient for post-treatment care.
OFFICE SKILLS AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT
Answer telephones and schedule appointments. Receive and route patients, file charts/radiographs and keep a record of lab routing.
