Description Microworms – aquarium fish live food (Daly City near San Francisco)

Panagrellus Redivivus

You will receive a 16-ounce container with an active microworm culture on the bottom. In the picture below, microworms are crawling up the side of the clear container. I paid $9 for a large microworm culture of this size, and now am selling the same amount for $4.

I have a tendency to think of microworms as the ideal substitute for baby brine shrimp. I do not have the time to hatch and baby brine shrimp from brine shrimp eggs. It isn’t easy to strain the shrimp from the unhatched eggs, which you should not feed your fish. Compared to that, microworms are extremely easy to raise, and easy to feed to your fry. If you can make instant oatmeal, you can raise microworms. Feeding your fish the microworms is as easy as running a knife blade against the worm container, and moving the worms to your tank.

Brine shrimp eggs are expensive. Compared to this expense, the oatmeal needed to raise microworms is a real bargain. Smart and Final stores offer a 42 ounce package, probably a years supply, for $2.

Microworms are cheaper to grow, easier to raise, and easier to feed your fish. Microworms are great for anyone too busy to raise baby brine shrimp. They are great for anyone who wants to feed their fish a good live food and not spend a bundle of money on brine shrimp eggs or a lot of time hatching, separating, and feeding the brine shrimp to their fish.

A very good description can be found at Aqualandpetsplus. Here is the link:

If this link does not bring you directly to the microworm page, then in the left column of the Aqualand Pets Plus homepage find live foods and click on microworms.

I am on San Bruno Mountain very close to San Francisco's Cow Palace in Daly City.
