Job Description
Mercado is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and ambitious Merchandising Consultant. As a key contributor in this customer-facing position, the successful candidate must have a solid understanding of eCommerce merchandising best practices and industry trends along with actual experience in implementing various merchandising strategies. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Merchandising Solutions within the Office of Customer Advocacy.
Primary Responsibilities
Review prospective customer websites to determine Mercado functional benefits
Participate in sales calls with the sales team and lead the discussion of business and merchandising requirements with prospective clients
Assist in preparing demo presentations, sales points and demo examples
Participate or perform product / merchandising demonstrations as needed
Create relationships with the prospects merchandising team and follow up on these relationships to help close opportunities
Participate and present at Customer Advisory Board and User Group Meetings
Work with Professional Services to scope, develop and test the required merchandising solution components
Test customer applications for new implementations
Assist customers in implementing merchandising strategies with Mercado solutions
Conduct customer training sessions on merchandising components as required
Establish merchandising best practices and provide search optimization consulting
Assist customers in troubleshooting search and merchandising problems
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in eCommerce marketing or merchandising role
Experience in implementing eCommerce strategies like cross-sell, up-sell, down-sell, seasonal and special sale promotions
Knowledge of various eCommerce technologies like content management, email marketing, web analytics, etc.
Strong familiarity and understanding of site search software
Upbeat, positive sales personality with good presentation skills
Previous customer facing/account relationship management experience
Working knowledge of MS Office software particularly PowerPoint
Willingness to travel to customers in North America and Internationally
Must be a self-starter with proven ability to work proactively and independently
Nice to have
Knowledge of e-commerce platforms, ASP & Hosted Software models and solutions
Experience with business analysis, data analysis tools and procedures
Familiarity with database software
Familiarity with HTML and XML
Degree in Marketing or Merchandising
Retail experience
Working knowledge of one or more of the following verticals:
o Apparel / Shoes & Accessories / Jewelry
o Electronics (Computers, Photo, Video)
o Sporting Goods
o Music, Books, Video
o Travel & Entertainment
o Mass-merchandising
o Multi-channel retailing
o Grocery / Food / Cooking Products
