OBJECTIVE: To obtain a full time position in Mechanical Engineering.

PROFILE:
• Experience in modeling and detailing in Pro E, problem solving through FEA technique, structural analysis and design optimization in ANSYS.
• Knowledge of production technology, GD & T, hydraulics, sheet metal design, finite element analysis, machine drawing.
• Excellent communication and MS Office skills and a recognized team player.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• CAD Packages: AUTOCAD, Pro/E, SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS.
• CAM Packages: FANUC
• Statistical and Other Utility Packages: MS Office.
• Programming Languages: C, C++, FORTRAN, Matlab, Maple.

EDUCATION:
MSME (Design and Machine systems), Dec 2005 GPA: 4.0/4.0
Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee
BSME (Mechanical Engineering), Jun 2003 GPA: 3.70/4.0
JNTU, Hyderabad, India

WORK EXPERIENCE:
CO-OP, HENNESSY INDUSTRIES Inc, Nashville, TN. May ’04 – Dec ‘04
• Assisted in the development of RC 200 EX motor cycle tire changer, a new product. Critical aspects of an existing similar product were analyzed and changed to meet the specifications. Also, created the complete CAD prototype (modeling and detailing of assembly) of the machine in Pro/E. The assembly involved sheet metal components, parts like motors, castings, wires, hoses, fluid fittings, weldments etc.
• Modeling and detailing of PC boards from scratch with every detail like resistors’ shapes and colors, fuses’ sub assemblies, heat sinks, diodes, capacitors, 4, 12 pin male and female plugs, wires etc.
• Worked on project “Cost optimization of Model 950 High Volume Balancer”, that involved modifying the Model 950 balancer. The work involved interaction with marketing, sales and design teams. The main influencing parameter was customer feed back.
• Various other duties like working on engineering change proposals, tolerance loop analysis, creating and updating product manuals, Kan-ban, product testing, shop floor troubleshooting, inventory programs and building simple hardware.

DESIGN ENGINEER in Training, CENTRAL INST of TOOL DESIGN, India Jun’02
• Study of Hydraulic systems, their design and working.
• Developed tool paths using FANUC.

INTERNSHIP, NUCLEAR FUEL COMPLEX, India Dec ’02
Design, Analysis and Manufacturing of Boring Bar
• Responsible for designing a boring bar used in a Becker Lathe. Design was finalized based on factors like manufacturability, performance under load (stresses and deflections), and design optimization results obtained using ANSYS. Analysis and simulation (3D animation to decide feasibility) was done in each of the probable cases. The manufacturing code corresponding to final design was developed using CATIA NC Manufacturing Module. The tool paths (profiles) were defined in the software and the corresponding code and animations were obtained.

RESEARCH WORK, ME Department, Tennessee Technological University Jan ’05 – Nov ‘05
• Worked on “Vibration of a rotating inextensible string with end masses”, that involved design and analysis of space tethers, utilizing FEA approach. The mathematical models were developed from scratch and codes were written in Matlab for solving the obtained mathematical model and, further analysis.

Teaching Assistant Jan’05 – May’05
• Involved in assisting my professor in teaching the subjects “Mechanics of Materials” and “Engineering Statics” to under graduate students.

COURSE WORK:
Graduate:
Finite element analysis, Mechanical Properties of Materials, Advanced Material Science – I, Thin film science, Micro and Nano Fabrication, Advanced CAD CAM, Fluid Mechanics of Suspensions, Introduction to Continuum Mechanics.

PROJECTS:
• Optimizing the membrane characteristics of a micro filter.
 Already existing micro filter with flat filter membrane was chosen.
 Changes in the membrane structure like shape and propping techniques were proposed.
 Idea backed up by performing studies, in FEM software ANSYS.
 Feasibility studies, manufacturing method and probable failure cases were predicted.
• Building and modeling the car custom built with a 2 wheeler engine:
 Modeled the chassis, body (sheet metal) and wheel line equipment of a custom built car.
• Optimizing the performance of a existing stable structure:
 Performed natural frequency study of a stable tetrahedral structure using ANSYS.
 Modifications involved changing geometric changes of the structure of the tetrahedron and the location of the point with least vibrations in the structure.
• Study of sheet metal design concepts.
 Forming techniques, design concepts (bend allowances, distance from mold line to bend line) and, various fittings were studied.
 Examples like computer cases, cabinets, and fittings were modeled in Pro/E.

RELOCATION: Yes

AVAILABILITY: December 2005 and beyond.
