SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR'S OFFICE OF PROTOCOL
IS SEEKING A STUDENT INTERN
FOR THE WINTER/SPRING 2006
Organization Description:
The Office of Protocol acts as Mayor Gavin Newsom's liaison to the San Francisco Consular Corps, maintains sister city relationships, coordinates official dignitary visits and also plans San Francisco city-related special events.
Internship Description:
The purpose of the Mayor’s Office of Protocol internship program is to introduce students to international affairs and event planning at the municipal level. Interns will work with the Protocol staff to facilitate Consular Corps requests and assist with civic events. Interns will be assigned projects that will be completed within the term of the internship. This position requires administrative support.
Necessary Qualifications:
Currently enrolled student, preferably with a political science, international affairs, communications or government major
Attention to detail and organization
Computer experience, including knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications
Excellent communication skills
Ability to self-direct
Compensation:
The Mayor’s Office of Protocol will facilitate course credit for those who are eligible. Interns will also receive $10 per hour as a stipend.
Schedule:
15 hours per week, preferably 2 full days
Monday-Friday
9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
