Position Opening: IT Specialist
Chinese American International School is seeking an experienced IT Specialist to join our team of dedicated teachers and administrators. We are an independent school in San Francisco serving pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students. Our mission is to educate children for academic excellence, moral character, and international perspective through immersion in American and Chinese culture and language. Job Description:
The IT Specialist is responsible for administrating Windows 2000/2003 servers, managing school databases, providing advanced hardware, software and operating system support to local users as well as technical guidance in the area of desktop hardware and software.
Successful candidates will be responsible for providing solution-oriented services including:
- Windows 2000/2003 Servers Administration, user account management, Veritas BackupExec backup and WinNT backup
- Active Directory management and Exchange 2000 administration for email
- Strong Windows folder permission understanding to manage shared storage space for different divisions
- Database management and synchronization for an Educational Administration database system
- Provide advanced end-user support for workstation hardware & software and resolve escalated problems
- Install, configure, deploy, update and troubleshoot workstation hardware, peripherals and printers as well as Windows operating systems (2000, XP Professional) and MS Office applications including Outlook
- Configure and administrate application systems, e.g. anti-virus, Spam filter, and anti-spyware.
- Configure and administrate Microsoft IME to support Chinese character in both traditional and simplified. Research, evaluate and recommend technical tools to help teaching Chinese.
- Troubleshoot multi-media equipment such as, scanners, CD-ROM writers, & Printer/fax machines and projector
- Provide support for remote users including VPN and remote desktop
- Test and evaluate new technologies to meet education needs, especially in Chinese learning.
- Project management and provide technical guidance for system implementations
- Provide phone-based support and monitor & respond to helpdesk email and voice-mail
- Develop and document procedures in accordance with school guidelines and requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Master Degree is preferred.
- 5+ years experience providing network administration and desktop support in a Windows environment for Windows2000/2003.
- Hands-on experience with database management
- Excellent Written and verbal communications skills and work well with all levels of users.
- Additional desired qualifications include MCSE and/or other certification.
- Candidate must have: the ability to work independently in a school environment; solid hands-on knowledge of Windows XP, and MSOffice and Outlook; a basic understanding of LANs/WANs and TCP/IP
- Bilingual, fluent both in English and Chinese Mandarin
