Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance Mechanics work independently to perform preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and repair failures of production and facilities equipment. Work is primarily performed on large material handling equipment which is hydraulically and electrically driven. Work is often under time constraints to help achieve the plants operating efficiency goals for a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation.

The incumbent will have an overriding priority towards safety and the environment and will work diligently to help develop a zero accident environment.


Requirements:
• Minimum two years related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electric motors and drives, Allen Bradley PLC Hardware and Software
• Experience and knowledge of welding and fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret documents
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Must be a team player
• Must follow and promote safe work practices.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to independently diagnose equipment failures to determine cause
• Bilingual English and Spanish highly desirable


Job Duties:
• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as mixers, conveyors, stackers, heaters, scissors lifts and other production machines and equipment
• Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contact blocks, motor starters, etc. as needed
• Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Control systems and control wiring
• Execute on work order list and maintain equipment logs
• Sets up and operates welder, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein
