LICENSED PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN (MEDICATION MONITOR)
Part-time position (20 Hours per week/flexible schedule)
PAY RATE = $23.38 with excellent benefits
AGENCY OVERVIEW:
Baker Places, Inc. is a non-profit residential treatment agency, providing the San Francisco community with alternatives to institutional care since 1964. All agency services are provided from the philosophy of social rehabilitation, which integrates teaching daily living skills in a safe and healthy environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Medication Monitor is responsible for monitoring the medications prescribed to clients at three transitional residential treatment programs, as well as the maintenance of medication records and billings, via weekly visit to each program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meet with newly admitted clients to review and assist their understanding of medication regimens and confirm that records have been set up. This may include the following:
a) Review FAX’d medication orders from Intake when new client is present in program.
b) Review and clarify any missing or questionable information
c) Insure that medication records have been properly set up.
d) Confirm receipt of medication orders and prescriptions
e) Confirm log of received medications
f) Review chart to ensure all medications have been entered on med sheets.
g) Review that meds are stored according to established procedures.
h) Review any changes on medication sheets.
2. Discuss medications bi-weekly with continuing clients for efficacy and to report adverse effects.
3. Assist Managers to train staff in the proper observation of client taking of medications.
4. Conduct medication education groups for clients.
5. Create signed chart notes for each client who was seen individually or who was present in education group, or whose medications were otherwise monitored.
6. Fill out billing forms accurately and present in timely fashion as directed for processing claims to Community Mental Health Services.
7. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possess valid California LVN, LPT or RN license.
2. Minimum of one-year experience working with mental health and substance abuse clients.
3. Working knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, symptoms, and pharmacological interventions.
4. Demonstrated ability and sensitivity working with a culturally diverse population.
5. Current Level B CPR License required.
6. Self-directed and ability to work with minimal supervision.
7. Ability to fluently speak, read, write and understand English.
8. Valid California Driver’s License.
