Boat stuff I’ve done
Grew up on a lake in the Adirondacks of New York where I learned to swim at age 3 by falling off the dock.
Operated my own motorboat w. 22 hp Johnson motor at age 10
Was water skiing at age 9
Built my own 16” plywood outboard run-a-bout at age 16 with 1950’s “one lunger” 22 hp outboard engine, steering wheel, fin keel, fore and aft seats and 5’ fore deck.
Owned two Thompson Lap-strake 18’ out board motor boats and 18’ Penn Yan lap strake with Merc 45 hp outboard.
Owned first sailboat (sunfish) at age 18
Rebuilt and floated 30’ Skaneateles Lake Mail Boat – hand calked wood hull and varnished in 1957.
Spent summers canoeing the Lakes Northern New York
Owned/raced Cal 30 sailboat on SF Bay
Owned/raced Herreschoff 38 on SF Bay
Was foredeck on STFYC Big Boat Series winner 1972
Over 30 years of sailing and racing on SF Bay on boats from Lasers, Merit 25 and a host of IOR designs during the 70s and 80s
Three Trans Pacs (L.A. – Honolulu), one TransAt (Florida to Bermuda), 10 Mexico races on Merlin (Lee 67), Santa Cruz 50s, Swans, IOR “work horses”.
Chartered Farr 55 and Merlin for StFYC BBS.
Was watch captain and delivery skipper for two Trans Pacs
Delivery skipper for two Panama Canal transits, one east to west, one west to east
Over 60,000 miles of ocean racing and as delivery skipper – Mexico, Hawaii, Florida to San Diego via the Canal.
Qualified driver of sail unlimited size

Port Captain for three years at Sausalito Yacht Club

Part time jobs in the boat maintenance business through out my life.
Produce and direct the “Tide Show” which airs daily on Radio Sausalito
