We are looking for a committed and experienced caregiver for an elderly woman 18 hours a week. Duties would involve cooking, washing, driving, shopping, and housecleaning. Good health and strenghth are important as my mother requires assistance moving and exercising. We also request that you own a good, working sedan or station wagon, as vans, SUVs and pickup trucks are difficult for her to manage.
The available room is sunny, roomy and furnished with closet and storage space and has its own phone line. Off street parking is not available but we are eligible for residential parking permits. You will receive full room, board, utilities and $400 a month.
We live on a tree lined street in a quiet neighborhood across the street from Codornices Creek and the Rose Garden. You will be close to the UC campus, BART, bus lines and gourmet ghetto.
We have a large, 4 bedroom house with two bathrooms, living room, kitchen and dining room; basement, garage and attic; washer and dryer; fireplace; and front and back yards with a garden, fruit trees and deer as frequent visitors. We have a quiet, indoor cat but cannot accommodate another pet. We maintain a no smoking household. The room, while large, really only accommodates one person and we discourage overnight guests--the circumstances of my mother's care do not allow for extensive socializing and visiting.
My mother is very warm, personable and compassionate; engaging with a great sense of humor. She enjoys reading, watching TV and is interested in current affairs, politics and good food. We are looking for someone who is friendly, flexible, humorous, imaginative and fluent in English.
We will also consider a room/board exchange or rental only.
