Description We are looking for a strong and reliable caregiver for a 65 year old Japanese lady in Colma. Abilty to utlize IHSS resources is a huge plus. Please read through the requirements below and if you are serious about living in and being a trustworthy care provider, please give us a call at 650-994-8072.

Condition and facts:
· Bedridden with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
· 5’ 2” – approximately 130 pounds
· Gets transferred into wheelchair 2 times a day
· Uses a bedpan – no diapers
· Needs help with range of motion exercises
· Receives a sponge bath twice a week
· Needs personal care assistance, meal preparation and light housekeeping
· Requires companionship

Caregiver requirements:
· Must be strong enough to perform wheelchair transfer with gait belt
· Able to prepare simple, tasty and nutritious meals
· Able to wake at night but still go back to sleep
· Cannot be allergic to cats or birds
· Non-smoking
· Must have a willingness to learn and be understanding

Other important details:
· Shifts typically run in 4 and 3 day live-in shifts
o 4 day shift: Sunday 9am – Thursday 9am
o 3 day shift: Thursday 9am – Sunday 9am
· Pay day is twice a month – 1st and 16th
· Currently, we pay in cash
· Starting pay is negotiable, increase possible with good performance and longevity
· Observation and training is not paid for unless the caregiver stays for more than 1 month.

The hiring process:
· Initial interview – try wheelchair transfer, see if communication is smooth. Show ID, list references and work experience.
· Sponge bath observation – come see what the sponge bath involves. It’s not your 10 minute care home facility sponge bath.
· Overnight observation – come see what it’s like to attend through the night
· Decision – Is the job offered to you? Is the job right for you? If so, which shift works best? Decide on start date.

Preparing for Shift:
· Be well rested
· Be on time
· Come with change of clothes, toiletries, special food and drink
