Hi. I am looking for a room in a home with maybe 1-3 others maybe in their late 20's to 40's in a non tobacco smoking house (this is probably the only point I can't be flexible on). I lean towards living with mellow, thoughtful people. I need a spot for me, a sunny window either in my room or the house for my plants and a spot outside for my carnivorous plants, blueberries (half wine barrel) and asparagus crowns. Looking for a harmonious situation where each person shares in the care of the house and is into recycling and composting or willing to learn. What I have to offer: I'm easy to get along with, have a quick sense of humour and make a point of getting along with my roommates. I've worked as a cook for 15 years (and like to whip up a meal now and then), repair man (I can fix just about anything), computer tech (ditto) and nature guide for kids and adults. Granola geek with an artistic bent? I need an area to start a food garden or would like to help with an existing one. A spot for my second bike would be great, too. I keep the common space clean usually doing my dishes right then and there, though I'm not a neat-nik. I take out the trash when it’s full, put away dishes in the drainer and want to live with people who can do the same. When I listen to music late or if I want to crank it up, I wear headphones. I know most of these points are obvious to some but you'd be surprised, then again maybe not.
I’m looking for people who are respectful and aware of the influence they may have on the house environment. A positive and grounded individual is always appreciated! A big plus if you practice any sort of silent mediation or similar discipline. I’d love to live with other vegetarians or at best, very little meat. Some of the things that drive me crazy eventually? Omnipresent roommates, constant drone of the TV in the main living area, leaving work for others to do, unfriendliness. Not really into master tenants or owners; I want to share the house not live on someone’s domain (I speak from experience). Might not work out with professional types.
I work as an IT consultant for 3 non-profits here in the City, where I'm also their tutor and all around saviour. I also have a buncha hobbies, mostly in the natural sciences (my main background), snowboarding, food gardening and some of the physical disciplines that integrate mind and body.
I don't expect others to share my value system and conversely, don't wish to be converted. Sexual orientation should be a non-issue for you as it is for me. Mmmm, any other questions, please feel free to ask. I would prefer to live in the Mission, Duboce, Haight or Alamo area (basically the east side of SF out of the fog zones) with people of a similar bent, but any sunny situation will catch my eye.
Thanks for reading all this. Very commendable. Caveat: I’ll try to convince you to help me build a bat house.
