Lessons offered in voice and/or piano for children, teenagers, adults: beginners to intermediate in the following musical styles: Jazz, popular, Broadway show tunes, blues, rhythm and blues, folk, beginning classical. Learning to read and write music and transcribe also taught.
Private, in-studio lessons at $45/hour basis. $25 for 1/2 hour lesson. Lessons in the field $55/negotiable depending on distance. Group rates and discounts available. Vocal Jazz workshops available on Saturdays (see Vocal Jazz Workshops-Albany). Consultation and assistance in writing your music or putting it into presentable form, and with recording your projects.
Richard Kalman holds a BA in music from CSU Sonoma and has been teaching privately for 12 years. He has taught Chorus at the 3rd to 5th grade and at high school levels in public schools. He offers patient, challenging, and fun lessons focused on developing musicianship skills. Students have said:
