Qualifications
All engineering and computer science undergraduate degrees are considered.
Entry level and above.
Proficiency in Java. Good skills with Windows OS. Basic UNIX/Linux user skills. JSP, HTML, XML/XSLT, SQL, and LISP are pluses.
Ability to learn new concepts and software applications quickly.
Strong logical, analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and team player attitude for working closely with other team members and departments.
An interest in law, actual legal research experience, and/or actual mortgage industry experience are all pluses.
Job Description
The Java and Rules Engineer primarily maintains and adds to the mortgage law interpretations implemented in our core software product. This involves working with the legal research staff to create specifications and implementing business rules in the software to these specifications. Core technologies are Java and a natural language interface using an English language vocabulary. The Java and Rules Engineer will also work on the software supporting the mortgage law interpretations and perform other tasks as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Candidate will implement research findings into calculations and results relevant to our system, authoring or co-authoring engineering specifications.
Candidate will interface with core software engineering team as needed to understand the structure and function of our software products.
Candidate will author and maintain internal and client-facing documentation.
Candidate will interface with lawyers, regulators, and compliance experts to ensure accurate understanding of the mortgage industry and development of the business rules.
