IT Systems Administrator We are an industrial hygiene/safety consulting firm based in Emeryville and are seeking a confident experienced professional to manage MS Windows-based network with 30+ users in 3 locations. Our perfect candidate will also be able to support us in database development, telecommunications issues and web-based solutions for our client base.
Requirements include solid working knowledge and expertise with configuring, installing, maintaining systems, local/wide area networks, data base management; specifically:
• Microsoft operating systems and software
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft Terminal Server
• Network administration
• Multiple remote locations
• Local and remote communications protocols
• Remote system monitoring capability
• FACSys
• Avaya IP Office
• VeritasBackup Exec
• TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP, SMTP, Active Directory
• Cisco PIX Firewall
• Remote access solutions (VPN, Dial-up, Terminal Services)
Responsibilities:
• Maintain servers and network backup system
• Proactively identify potential IT problems and needs
• Hands on desktop support for 20+ people
• Remote support for 12+ people in two additional locations
• Administration of user accounts, files shares, file system, permissions and access rights
• Administration of user accounts on Exchange
• Responsible for developing and maintaining system, software and network documentation including inventory
• Manage, recommend and perform software/hardware improvements, upgrades and/or purchases
• Oversee tech related projects, such as database design, development or implementation.
• Have the ability and desire to assist in developing databases using FileMaker and SQL
• Have the ability and desire to assist in developing and working with other in maintaining Web pages and advising on how to help utlize the web to enhance our service to clients
Work with top management in developing an overall corporate IT strategy when adding additional field offices
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years experience in support and stand-alone network environment.
• A Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
• MCSE Windows 2003 (preferred)
• Knowledgeable in required network systems, operating system and server applications
- Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft SQL
- Microsoft Terminal Server
- Symantec Anti Virus
- FileMaker
• Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot user systems or network devices as required
• Demonstrate ability to repair and maintain hardware as required
• Able to perform system tasks such as back-up, upgrades, network troubleshooting as required
• Demonstrate ability to effectively manage multiple projects

• Demonstrate ability to prioritize conflicting demands

You must be able to respond promptly to unforeseen system emergencies outside of normal working hours, by phone or in person. Occasional visits to our Southern California and Louisiana branch locations will be required.

This position is budgeted at 30 hours per week; however, we are flexible within the range of 25-40 per week. In order to be eligible for health insurance benefits the candidate must work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
