POSITION OVERVIEW:
We seek a dynamic individual who can work in-house with our National Sales Coordinator to launch and sell new products to existing customers.
We are a small, creative 25 year old company with an established national account base and a reputation for creating new products every 6 months. Real inventory, real customers, real orders and no cold calling. This is a full-time position with full benefits. (Part-time is possible, see below for hours.) Experience contacting decision makers over the telephone is a plus. Experience with the wholesale trade of consumer goods is a plus. 3 Years of workplace experience is a must. Excellent English and telephone skills are required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position will report to the company’s National Sales Coordinator and will have a range of responsibilities including:
•4-5 hours daily: Calling existing customers to check inventory levels and solicit new orders. Maintaining data base of contact info. Working with these customers is the top priority for this job.
•Assisting with preparation and distribution of sales materials to outside sales reps as needed.
•Assist sales department with coordination of trade shows as needed. Possible opportunity to travel to national trade shows for the right person.
•Primary responsibility for sending company catalogs to both existing and prospective customers then calling to follow-through.
•Assisting with distribution of press releases.
ON-LINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responding to website generated inquiries.
•Processing orders when shopping carts are activated on our website in June, 2006.
•Possibly create and managing a new EBAY store to sell discontinued items, assorted excess inventory, closeouts, tools, supplies, materials. EBAY experience a plus.
Additional help in our small, flexible office may be required to fill-in for other staff members on vacation. Willingness to be cross-trained is a must. Periodic duties include:
•Receiving incoming telephone orders.
•Assisting with the flow of order entry throughout the office including entering orders.
•Help with customer service for existing accounts by sharing in-coming phone calls as needed. Accurate documentation for customer service actions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Commitment to mission, guiding principles and values of Gallery Inc. and a strong interest in entrepreneurial business.
•Minimum 3 years prior office experience or in-house sales experience. Retail sales experience alone is not a qualification for a wholesale sales and marketing position. (Sorry).
•Ability to be ready for work no later than 8:00 am as the majority of our accounts are located on the East Coast. Flex time and earlier start times are possible. Later start times are not possible for this position.
•References a must.
•Experience with MS Word and Excel. We will train on MAS90, our very user friendly accounting program and customer data base.
•Superior communication skills and excellent English grammar. Ability to communicate clearly and articulately over the telephone. The job involves constant telephone contact with customers from all over the USA. Good manners and enjoyment helping people over the telephone is a must.
•Must be extremely organized and able to enjoy multi-tasking. All staff members in our small office juggle several projects at once, are able to work under deadline pressures, and have a great desire to work in a team environment.
•Willingness to train / cross-train and be willing to learn new skills.
•Experience and comfort working within a small, fast-paced company.
EUDCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•College degree preferred but years of on-the-job training in similar companies is a highly desirable substitute. High school grads with solid in-house sales resumes are welcomed to apply. Entrepreneurial experience also desirable. Having owned your own business is a plus.
•Minimum 3 years of professional office experience with references.

Gallery Art Glass is the largest wholesaler of decorative stained glass in the United States. We are a 25 year old company, selling exclusively through giftware, garden and grocery retailers. Our accounts range from thousands of mom-and-pop independent shops to large grocery and department store chains. Regardless of the size of our customer, the demand for high quality products and excellent customer service are uncompromised.
Our San Leandro office is also a design studio creating prototypes of original and unique artwork that is replicated at our factory in China. All sales and marketing, shipping and receiving are also managed in our architecturally designed local offices.
Our telephones are active, particularly in the mornings. Incoming telephone duties rotate between 2 or 3 staff members during the day. Outgoing telephone duties are mostly a morning function. Early morning starts are a must. Individuals who enjoy variety will thrive in our office.
The company was founded by a local artist who is still the principal designer and president. The atmosphere is entrepreneurial, creative, casual and very focused on efficiently delivering value for our customers through attractive, unique and reasonably priced products. Sales are handled through showrooms around the country, trade shows and independent sales reps. All staff members are expected to understand and support our design and sales cycles.
This is a small company with some personnel working together for many years. Every staff member has the potential to make a difference.
FULL TIME POSITION:
Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00pm. Earlier start time available. Later start time not available.
Compensation: $14.50 hr. (Equivalent = $30,160 annually.)
Benefits: Kaiser Health Plan, Delta Dental, 2 weeks vacation, paid holidays, disability insurance. There is no 401K at this time. 90 probation period to qualify for benefits.
PART TIME POSITION:
Schedule: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm
No other schedule available.
Compensation: $14.50 hr. No benefits.
