Horses - Appys and Greys, No Pintos but Bays (oakland hills / mills)

Title Horses - Appys and Greys, No Pintos but Bays (oakland hills / mills)
Category Farm & Horses : Horses
Created 03/15/06
Description There are several new horses on the feedlot waiting for a new home.

These horses have had the back luck finding themselves on a feedlot and headed to slaughter through no fault of their own. They are listed as “Adoption Only” simply because the foster homes are full. All of these horses are in great danger of being sent to slaughter.

The newcomers include, Hobbs, a darling little Haflinger yearling and a group of four Appaloosa fillies (2-year olds): Concho, Granita, Raven and Quartz. These are sweet girls, athletic and very pretty.

You can see these horses at Columbia Basin Equine Rescue’s website at: http://columbiabasinequinerescue.org/feedlothorses.html

There is also a discussion board re these horses - click onto the “Horses on the Lot” link. http://www.cberheadqrters.proboards56.com/index.cgi

THE APPY FILLIES

CONCHO - 2 yrs old filly. Pretty young athletic looking filly with color to boot!

GRANITA - 2 yr old cocoa colored filly, very inquisitive . Another one that will look good cleaned up and shed out, has some white hairs in her coat too and a pretty big blaze.

RAVEN - 2 yr old appaloosa filly. Cute mover, will be a darling, athletic horse, has the frosting going on. Will look great cleaned up and shed out.

QUARTZ - 2 yr old Appaloosa filly. This filly has the color and the athletic build to be a real eye catcher when she slicks out and gets good nutrition. Leggy and nice conformation, these photos do not do her justice.
Update!: She is a love! Quartz was the first to come to us on the lot today. She was very easy to halter, easily handled by a kid.

OTHER HORSES

PRINCESS - 18 year old, 15.1h, Quarter Horse type mare. This mare is as sweet as they come, she leads without a halter. She is super sweet and will make an ideal horse for someone that is looking for a “steady Eddie.” She is kind, picks up all four feet automatically, very light in the halter a real find!!!!!

HOBBS - Darling yearling, approx. 12.3hh, Haflinger colt/gelding ( not sure on this yet). Flaxen mane and tail. He is curious and friendly, but not handled much, had halter on the day he came to the lot, but not since. He will come up to us but is shy and we can't just slip a halter on him.. He has a club foot which is pictured in the additional pictures. He is still young enough to have the surgery to correct this and with proper after-care would probably look normal. He may respond partially to proper foot care also. He is a cute guy who will not get much bigger, older horses boss him at the lot .
Update!: Hobbs is easily approached, and was easy to get a halter on as well. Very friendly little guy who LOVES carrots! He was easily handled and very cooperative even with a young handler. Even better, he is gelded!

RIVER - 11 yrs old, 15.2hh, very nice registered Sorrel QH mare. Easy to halter and handle, picks up front and hind feet, feet need care, only 1 shoe left on. Very cute head. Needs some good nutrition. Has knot on one front knee but does not limp or appear unsound. Per Feedlot owner she is broke to ride, but we did not get on her yet. We were told we could probably get her papers. Nicely built mare.
Update!: A kid got on River's back today. She didn't offer to move when he mounted and was responsive to backing with only a halter when asked. She didn't even flinch when he jumped off. I was so focused on making sure he was okay that I forgot to take pictures!
