JOB TITLE:
Graphic Designer/Web Designer
JOB DUTIES/SCOPE:
Designer with a strong portfolio needed to help redesign a small non-profit college's (DreamWeaver) website, as well as all of our collateral material. This includes: advertisements (black and white ads in newspapers), flyers, 3-panel mailers, postcards, view book, catalogs, brochures, coupons, invitations, t-shirts, bags, mugs, etc.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Technical:
We are looking for someone with a degree in graphic/web design and at least two years of experience. Candidate MUST have experience in preparing files for printing/press. Must understand printing, file preparation, color management, etc.

Creative:
We are looking for someone who has a Zen-like sense of design and who can create compelling imagery that does not fight with our copy. Experience with branding, concept design needed.
QUALITIES WE SEEK:
We seek a designer who can help us translate who we are into our collateral. This is VERY important. We seek imagery and branding that will give a professional and modern appearance to our organization, as well as speak to our audience, which is mostly women interested in the healing (Asian) arts. We prefer Clean, Soft and Zen-like imagery that compliments our message, rather than competes with it. Less is truly more.
For our website, we need a complete re-design with the same feel. We are seeking a Zen design sense in both our imagery, as well as ease of navigation for the user. No heavy use of Flash or busy looking graphics, please. Our website will be content heavy, so making the site easy to use and nice to look at is key.
We seek an individual who is available to produce a wide spectrum of work. From more simple tasks such as flyers and advertisements (often on short notice and tight deadlines) to more long term and creative projects such as 150+ page catalogs and a new website. We seek someone who is comfortable doing both types of work, has the ability to work on short deadlines (thought we try to avoid this as much as possible), understands file preparation AND design, is DETAIL oriented and creative.
If you have an interest in acupuncture, massage, Chinese medicine, martial arts, Taoism, meditation, yoga or other complementary healing arts, this job would be perfect for you. Speaking a second language like Chinese or Spanish is a plus, but not required.
ABOUT US:
We are a college, established in 1980, that offers Masters and Doctoral programs in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. We also offer certificates in massage, as well as a low-cost health clinic open to the public. We are a non-profit organization, and have won many awards for our community service and academics. We have also been voted "Best of the Bay" several years running by both the SF Guardian and the SF Weekly.
We are a small college (approximately 200 students), but one of the most prominent and oldest in the USA. We strive to maintain a small community feel, while embracing innovation and forward thinking that the SF Bay is known for. We are an equal opportunity employer.
COMPENSATION:
We are open to working on a fee per project basis, or on a monthly retainer.

Position to be Part Time. Hours per week can range from 5-20, depending on the project. We prefer to establish a long-term releationship with our new designer/design team. Position will be off-site/telecommuting, except for the occasional meeting with the President.
