JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Grant Writer
REPORTS TO: Director of Development and Marketing
PURPOSE: Research, coordinate and write grant proposals in accordance with strategic goals and priorities. Establish relationships with funding entities, monitor grant status and write reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Research, develop, plan and write funding proposals, in conjunction with the development director and other department heads
• Recommend funding opportunities that meet Food Bank priorities
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with grantors
• Manage active grants to ensure compliance with agreements, compile data to write timely reports
• Work with Food Bank staff to collect collateral information, outcome and evaluation data
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven research, planning and strategic thinking skills
• Three to five years progressive experience in grant writing
• Demonstrated success writing and receiving major public/private grants
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Strong computer skills with an emphasis on MS Office Suite, web-based research, and database management
• Interest in and commitment to the mission of the Food Bank
• Valid California driver’s license with good driving record
STARTING SALARY RANGE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE:

ABOUT THE FOOD BANK:
Established in 1985, the Alameda County Community Food Bank is the county's central clearinghouse for donated food. A nonprofit organization, the Food Bank works with a network of 300 community based organizations, including soup kitchens, food pantries and children's programs, to provide food assistance to 120,000 people in need each month. In addition to food distribution, the Food Bank works to break the cycle of poverty and hunger through education and advocacy efforts.
