Industry Market Manager, Asia Pacific and Latin America - Mountain View
This position is based in Mountain View, CA.
Google's world-class Advertising Sales team drives business revenue growth across a variety of verticals and regions where Google does business. The team works collaboratively with all Google sales channels and resources to manage relationships and grow revenue with new and existing customers.
The Industry Market Manager role will provide the industry management skills, analytical "horsepower" and business judgment to drive strategic and tactical initiatives within a focused vertical market across Asia and Latin America.
Google is the number one internet search engine and one of the most-visited sites on the internet. We have been profitable for over three years, with operations in most major Asia Pacific and Latin American countries. The Vertical Markets Group is responsible for providing Google Direct Sales functions with industry expertise, analysis and strategy for our most strategic clients. We are looking to hire individuals with a keen sense of country and pan-regional knowledge, in addition to a specific area of industry expertise.
The Industry Market Manager will work in tandem with, and in support of, the Direct Sales organization in Asia Pacific and Latin America. This position will work closely with the sales leaders and sales teams in each local market and will be responsible for (a) partnering with local sales teams to grow the top advertisers; and (b) developing specific vertical markets (e.g., Technology, Automotive, Travel, etc.) within each country. Primary responsibilities include market assessment (country specific and pan- regional), sales strategy, industry analysis and presentation development.
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated top quartile performance in a consulting, marketing, or line management role, and have graduated at or near the top of their class from a leading undergraduate university and business school. We are looking for team-oriented, self-starters who can work in a rapidly changing industry, tolerate ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight. Candidate must be proactive, results driven, and committed to playing a key role on this growing team. Candidate must also have strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all sales marketing, strategy and training efforts for a defined group of vertical markets (e.g., Retail, Travel, Finance, Automotive, Technology, Healthcare, etc.) for all Google sales channels.
- Design and execute a strategic sales marketing plan to support the sale of Google's advertiser products to major corporations and agencies; work closely with Google’s direct sales organization, inside sales organization, online sales organization, product and corporate marketing teams, and senior management team.
- Lead creation of thought leadership materials, client presentations, executive presentations, white papers, contributed articles, etc.
- Develop compelling positioning and messaging for Google's vertical advertising solutions targeted to companies in the relevant sector and market.
- Develop in-depth partner case studies which showcase Google's advertising solutions.
- Develop and maintain sales and reporting tools for specific verticals.
- Serve as the primary industry liaison between the Vertical Markets organization and Google's legal, finance, global sales, marketing, and product teams.
- Develop all materials and support for Google emerging markets.
- Lead competitive sector analyses and present to Google management teams as warranted.
- Complete comprehensive performance analysis of covered industries and serve as an internal and external resource for providing industry analysis and benchmarking.
- Research and analyze key industry drivers, competitive environment, trends and operating metrics.
- Identify prospective advertisers; develop prospects; work with team to define overarching sales strategy, qualify, grow, and maintain strategic account lists.
- Work with Global Support and Global Sales to facilitate client development, internal cross-communication and training, and maintain consistent global client service efforts.
- Work closely with the sales finance team to build performance and revenue reporting tools for internal customers and to interpret relevant data.
- Clearly communicate findings from initiatives to senior management and to the broader organization.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree, MBA strongly preferred.
- 6+ years of management experience, marketing experience, or consulting preferred.
- Candidates with fewer than 6 years of post-college experience are also encouraged to apply and will be considered for an associate-level Industry Markets role.
- Strong analytical skills and passion for analyzing products, companies and market dynamics.
- Strong aptitude for determining the optimal way to position products in the market, in an organization and along a buy cycle.
- Specific and relevant experience in a vertical markets such as Automotive, Business and Industrial, Consumer Packaged Goods, Entertainment, Finance, Retail, Technology business to business, Technology commerce or Travel.
- Prior experience in a marketing role supporting a sales organization preferred.
- Expertise supporting and enabling a direct sales organization is preferred.
- Experience working in International markets preferred.
- Experience in one of the following industries preferred: Retail, Travel, Consumer Technology, Finance, Consumer Products, Automotive, or Media
- Excellent and creative written and oral communication skills.
- Outstanding presentation skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of the search and online advertising market.
- Understanding of Google's strategic and competitive position.
- Willingness to travel to meetings across Asia Pacific and Latin America.
