First off: I'm a tall (6'2"), slim (180 lbs), and healthy SWM, age 38 with an artistic soul and scientific mind, who knows the road less traveled.
I'm a creative type who successfully escaped the confines of a computer programming job to make my dream into my work. But I've become too focused on my career, and want to make a worthy woman my top priority. In the end, I want a great relationship to be my best accomplishment.
No family is perfect, but my parents have the most successful relationship I know of. So I know how "relationship" is more of a verb than a noun. And I've known enough women (short and long term) to know myself and appreciate what I'm looking for, and to value communication and trust and a sense of humor.
That said, I don't have a laundry list of requirements. I don't seek "perfection" in others. The most beautiful thing to me is a woman with a positive mental attitude.
Of course, mutual physical attraction IS important. I'm drawn to slim women who are comfortable in jeans and minimal makeup (in other words, comfortable with themselves and down to earth). A bright smile and a few good dance moves gets my attention, and if you're seriously smart then I will need to make out with you like we're in high school (hopefully without the teenager awkwardness etc). Bonus points if you also have accomplishments, a creative / artistic outlet and live an examined life. Extra credit for teachers!
Let's see, a few things about me: I run a small business. Female friends consider me a "catch". I tend to make people laugh, but don't bust into new situations with a clown suit on. I understand irony, but value sweetness. I see a lot of live music. I tune in to "This American Life". I cook for friends. I like old houses and still love New Orleans. I'm handy. I have an incredible record collection. I wish I could pick a color to paint my living room. I've never cheated on a girlfriend. I have a few good dance moves.

Oh and also: having a family should eventually (EVENTUALLY) be a possibility for you.
