The Joseph Matteucci Foundation for Youth Non-Violence provides violence prevention programming for schools.
We are looking for an Independent Contractor to provide Fundraising and/or Event Planning services for two yearly events in July and February. Ideally, we will be hiring one individual with most or all of the requirements. This position may be hired on an event by event basis or as a 12 month independent contractor position with hours ranging from 8 to 40 hours a week.

Fundraising Requirements:
Contact and solicit corporate and foundation donors by using a variety of techniques including personal visits, proposals, cold calls, e-mails, telephone calls, direct mail, etc.
Assess and develop overall strategy and implementation of direct mail campaigns involving personalized correspondence to increase fundraising
Create and implement a program to solicit individuals for financial contributions.
Develop long and short-term fundraising plans and strategies.
Implement strategies to build individual sponsor and major sponsor gifts
Build and nurture donor relations by developing relationships with key donors, foundations and funding agencies.
Coordinate the Board of Directors' involvement in cultivating and soliciting donors
Respond promptly to donor inquiries via the telephone and/or necessary correspondence.
Existing relationships with and knowledge of regional corporations and businesses a plus.
Special Events Requirements:
Plan and manage all aspects of The Joseph Matteucci Foundations special events, including the annual golf tournament (July), and the East Bay Charity Ball (February). Enhance overall events strategy.
Manage and monitor assigned volunteers and consultants within delegated area of responsibilities and control.
Create and maintain budgets for each function.
Existing relationships with and knowledge of regional corporations and businesses a plus
Existing relationships with and knowledge of regional press and media a plus
Existing relationships with and knowledge of regional community organizations and leaders a plus
General Requirements & Duties:
Administrative Support:
Provide administrative support to Executive Director
Note taking, correspondence and required follow-up.
Meeting coordination
Photocopying, assembly, and distribution of documents
Assist with updating web-based materials
Assist with general administrative work and telephones
Plan, organize and execute large mailings
Update and maintain organizational database
Grant research, writing and reporting
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of two years paid work experience in fundraising, planning, development or related field.
Demonstrated success in managing special events.
Demonstrated experience in soliciting individual gifts. Knowledge of direct marketing processes with an emphasis on direct mail campaigns.
Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
Desire and ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and carry out activities independently to meet specific timelines and goals.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends (during events).
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs, use of the Internet and database(s).
Possession of a valid California drivers license and a clean DMV record. Willingness to drive personal vehicle as necessary.
