Description We are a non-profit free medical clinic that serves the homeless,low-income and uninsured population. Candidates with strong experience of working in a clinic setting serving homeless, low income and uninsured popultaion are prefered. Bilingual: Cantonese, Vietnamese and/or Spanish is a MUST.

MAJOR DUTIES:
Receptionist Duties
1.Greet patients at morning and afternoon sign-in, screen for eligibility.
2.Work closely with nursing staff to determine provider/nursing availability and to flag any urgent medical needs.
3.Follow Front Office procedures in emergency situations (911, CSS, etc.).
4.Complete patient information on narrative record and update intake sheet. Assist patients with completion of intake forms as needed.
5.Enter patient demographic and visit information into database/computer system.
6.Make follow-up appointments and provide information and referral to patients/clients as needed.
7.Screen telephone calls; make appointments on telephone; take messages for staff and providers; properly transfer telephone calls; make patient reminder calls; check answering machine and fax daily.

Medical Records Responsibilities
1.Assemble new charts; type and affix labels. Pull and re-file charts completing out guides as needed.
2.File labs, x-rays,consults and other reports.
3.Maintain the integrity of charts.

Interpreter Responsibilities
1.Provide interpretation and facilitate accurate communication for between non-English speaking patients and providers, nurses and other staff as needed. Explain directions for taking medications, etc.
2.Assist in development of signs and materials for non-English speaking patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Two years demonstrated work experience - preferably in a medical/clinical setting.
2.High School diploma or GED required.
3.Strong customer service skills required.
4.Bilingual Cantonese/ Vietnamese/ Spanish/English strongly preferred.
5.Ability to work successfully with a culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged patient population.
6.Some computer skills needed. (Windows ‘95/Microsoft Office)
7.Excellent work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative attitude, good attention to detail, team player.
8.Ability to be polite, tactful, firm with public. Ability to set limits and handle pressure situations with clients.
