Post-Impressionist style "Edgar Allan Poe" portrait by totally self-taught San Francisco artist M. Soto. Soto has shown and sold his work throughout the San Francisco area (and beyond), having woven his vision into the rich fabric of the local culture over the past 30 years.
This work of art has a powerful soul. It never looks exactly the same, new dimensions are revealed depending on any of unlimited influences in the atmosphere of the environment, and the internal atmosphere of the viewer.
This work was completed in 1999 and took over a year of love and work to create. A lot of experience went into this painting. Also, the artist delved into the work and life and soul of Poe during the inception and creation of this painting, it is much more than a rendering of Poe's physical features, as I'm sure will be appreciated by the person with whom Edgar will make his next home.
There are many other gems by this artist still in private collections around the United States and abroad, and in the Soto family's own collection, that will probably not go for sale for quite a while, although Soto is still creating new work. This painting's value will only increase.
