I moved to SF about 3 years ago and prior to that I attended St. John's UMC in Houston, Tx (no relation to Mr. Bush) on a regular basis. Since moving here, I have said I want to find a new church, but until now, I have only tried Guide UMC twice. I am not looking for any particular domination - Christianity or Judaism is the churches I want to explore. At my old church, I felt really comfortable; we did not need to wear dresses, suits and fancy hats, so I am looking for a laid back atmosphere that is similar. Also, St. John’s was located in the heart of the city, served the homeless, had programs for those with AIDs, had a wonderful choir and interpretative dance, great sermons, the head pastor showed his humanity, and welcomed everyone no matter race, religion, or sexual preference. I know I may not find the very same things in a church or may find that and more, but I describe St. John’s to give you an idea of what I am looking for. Most of all, I want to be reconnected with my spirituality on a deeper level, have fun exploring and find a new family here in the Bay Area. I do not have a car, but I am willing to travel to the other bays to explore.
I am an African-American single, professional, laid-back, amusing woman in my early 30’s. I am looking for someone(s) to help me explore. Whether it is your church and I could be your guest or whether you are looking for a church yourself and want someone to explore with you, email me and we can get together. Also, if you are reading this and you just have a recommendation, please let me know.
