Description Everdream is a technology startup delivering highly effective and reasonably priced solutions to today’s paramount desktop management challenges in a software-as-a-service and managed services model.

Everdream, a well funded operation with hundreds of existing customers, has recently closed a $20 million round. Everdream is led by Mark Hoffman, a well known and highly regarded CEO, who took Sybase and Commerce One public. We seek a candidate with a proven track record of managing successful full-cycle product developments. Expertise in SaaS, e-commerce, and CRM/ERP is a significant plus. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering and is based in Fremont, California.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 15+ engineers developing a highly scalable distributed desktop management system and a set of customer facing hosted applications.
• Provide organizational and technical leadership and mentoring to a rapidly growing team of engineers.
• Engage with the CTO, Chief Architect, product management, managed and professional services organizations to ensure alignment of technology to the business needs.
• Review and contribute to requirements documents; contribute to, review and approve functional and design specifications and other forms of documentation.
• Contribute to and ensure compliance with technical standards.
• Help drive the improvement of the processes and infrastructure surrounding the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in the IP process.

Profile

• Very high technical competence, with a track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments, and demonstrable ability to “roll up sleeves and get your hands dirty” when required.
• Passion and ability to manage people. Ability to rapidly establish credibility with, build close working relationships with, motivate and energize the developers.
• Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent judgment and decision making skills.
• Strong influential communication skills and business acumen; comfortable arbitrating technical issues and building cross-functional relationships.
• Ability to make intelligent tradeoffs, manage design degradation due to tradeoffs.
• Meticulous attention to detail.

Required skills and experience

• At least 10 years of overall development experience; at least 4 years of management experience; proven leadership by example of teams of 15+ engineers in a technical environment.
• Knowledge of software design and architecture and required processes encompassing the full lifecycle. Deep understanding of agile development processes and project management skills are essential.
• Technical domain knowledge: Knowledge of multi-tier web applications and associated standards, databases, networking and concerns such as security and performance.
• Ability to code is essential. Though coding would not consume a significant part of the day, this position would require deep diving, and knowledge of languages including ASP.NET, C#, C++, T/SQL.
• Knowledge of internationalization and localization aspects.

Desired skills and experience, which would be considered as an advantage

• Experience developing hosted, highly available, multi-tenancy applications with knowledge of operational aspects.
• Knowledge of desktop management concerns (viruses, patch management, remote control, etc) and familiarity with the desktop management space.
• Knowledge of one or more enterprise application platforms (e.g. Siebel, SAP, Remedy) or BPM/BPA applications.
• Datacenter experience (understanding of firewalls, load balancers, proxy servers, cache servers etc).

Education

• BS CS/CE degree required; MS or equivalent experience preferred
