IGN.com, the Internet's largest destination for videogamers, is currently looking for a talented, motivated and energetic person to fill an editorial position on the site.
Many an amateur has made the mistake of thinking that working at IGN is a cakewalk, and that all we do is "play games for a living." All of these fools have been sorely mistaken after working 14-hour days, staying up all night writing about horrible games that no one wants to play, and posting 500 screenshots of Pokémon creatures.
Ideal candidates should have a passion for gaming, possess excellent writing and communication skills, have advanced knowledge of the gaming industry, and be dedicated to making IGN.com the best gaming destination on the Internet.
Editor, News and Features
Duties: The News and Features Editor is responsible for gathering, writing and publishing press release news, contacting press representatives to produce more in-depth news stories, tracking down exclusive news stories, posting press releases on IGN's Wire service, and developing ideas for, producing and publishing feature articles.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Outstanding writing skills
- At least one year writing experience at a Website or journalistic publication
- Extensive knowledge of the videogame industry, both classic and current games, and all gaming platforms
- Excellent verbal and social skills
- Experience with HTML
- Love and acceptance of all videogame systems
- Quality-oriented
- Winning attitude
- Can work in the San Francisco Bay area
