Seeking Editor for 75-minute documentary film on meditation teacher and author of Dharma Punx, Noah Levine called, MEDITATE AND DESTROY.
MEDITATE AND DESTROY is a feature-length documentary that will provide an intimate portrait of Dharma Punx author, Noah Levine, who uses his personal experience and punk rocker sensibilities to teach meditation in juvenile halls, high security prisons, and urban centers around the country. After a self-destructive adolescence of criminal activity and substance abuse, Noah now follows and shows others a path of spirituality and community service.
We have over 80 hours of footage for this project. Looking for a Final Cut Pro editor who has the skills to create a cutting edge, compelling documentary. Previous documentary editing experience required.
This job is IDEAL for someone who is tired of the corporate world, wants to bring an inspiring story to the world, and believes in creating media that matters. If you loved Tarnation, Dogtown and Z Boyz, and The Cruise-- and can use your keen eye and rock star editing skills to craft a provocative story, then please apply. The goal for this film is an experimental documentary over a canned formulaic structure. You MUST have an appreciation for truly experimental cinema-- not MTV editing styles. We already have a motion graphics artist and animation team for this project.
The editor should be available to work flexible hours (nights + weekends) from mid-April to October. We aim to have a rough cut of the film completed by July and the final version finished for all the festival deadlines in October.
Director is also co-editor. There are some sequences already compiled for the film so your job would be take over and craft the rough cut.
To begin, we do have a small stipend to offer our editor. Until we complete our next fundraising phase this Spring, the job would continue on a deferred payment basis. (We all know how hard it is to get funding for documentaries before a rough cut is made.) Rest assured, we are continuously busting ass to raise funds for post (already have a 10-min fundraising reel) and intend to pay our editor because taking advantage of people's time and skills is not what we do.
