Summary of Duties:

We are looking for a Director of Sports Business Development to focus on continuing StubHub’s growth in its sports-related business and expanding StubHub’s relationships within the sports industry. The person will focus on developing sponsorship arrangements and strategic partnerships with teams, leagues, athletes, agents, Universities, and venue owners. The person will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and managing the relationships with these types of partners through sponsorships, partnerships, marketing, exclusive events and other non-traditional formats.

This individual will also be responsible for traditional business development deals with online properties including content sites, e-Commerce companies and other companies that could benefit from a direct relationship with StubHub.com. This position will report to the VP – Sales and Business Development.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reinforce the strategic plan for StubHub’s Sports Business Development effort including goals oriented around profitable revenue generation, customer acquisition and brand awareness.
• Work to develop partnerships with teams, leagues, media companies, athletes, agents, Universities, and venue owners to grow StubHub's revenue and profit in various sports categories
• Develop programs within the sports industry that are scalable and profitable for StubHub
• Work with the Partnerships group and with other groups to make sure that the implementation and ongoing management of the partnerships are optimized
• Track and report the status and success of all business development deals
Skills and Abilities Needed:

• College graduate, MBA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in Business Development, ideally within the sports and e-commerce industry. Broad range of contacts and relationships within the sports industry a plus.
• Ability to identify, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships and work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in structuring deals and negotiating contracts
• Strategic thinker with excellent communication skills. Great attention to detail
• Entrepreneurial, aggressive, dynamic and patient

Ideal candidate for this position will have experience with a team or a league in addition to business development experience at an online company.
