director of software development
The Director of Software Development will manage software and firmware development, including the software and firmware engineers, coordinating the efforts of the software group with the rest of the company. The software director will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
responsibilities:
Manage and grow our team of software and firmware engineers developing ultra-mobile computing devices.
Establish, articulate and monitor team’s priorities and deliverables.
Work with staff to define and establish formal build and production release processes.
With the support of engineering program management, establish and track software and firmware schedules.
Work with product definition team to establish product requirements and deliverables, including software and firmware specifications.
Provide vision and support to software and firmware development.
Represent software and firmware development in strategic vendor relationships and to OQO executive team.
Participate as a technical contributor to help resolve hard problems as they arise.
Drive innovation into future OQO products, establishing software and firmware as a major differentiator for OQO.
requirements
Greater than of 6 years of excellent software and firmware development experience.
4 plus years managing software and firmware development teams.
Experience driving the entire software and firmware development process including definition, development and release.
Thorough knowledge of build, release and test process.
Experience implementing and managing bring up of firmware on new hardware platforms.
Experience with software and firmware development for personal computers highly desired.
Experience with applications development a plus.
Direct experience or knowledge of laptop, PDA, and/or cell industries is an advantage.
