The Community Church of Sebastopol is seeking a person of faith who is committed to working with youth and children to direct a well-established youth program which focuses on instilling faith and Christian values, providing a supportive and trusting environment and facilitating personal growth. We are open to new ideas and directions for our children and youth ministries. This is a 3/4 time position to begin July 2006.
CURRENT PROGRAM
· Sunday School—Kindergarten through 6th grade
· Youth Programs
4th and 5th grades, monthly
6th through 8th , weekly
9th through 12th, weekly
· One-week mission trip—senior high
· One weekend mission trip—junior high
· Church camp opportunities as appropriate
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Previous experience working with children and youth in churches
· Skill in recruiting, training and managing volunteers
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Organizational skills
· Self-starting with ability to work independently
· Creativity .
· Passion and ability to work with and inspire youth and children
· Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
RESPONSIBILITIES WITH YOUTH
· Recruit and train adult leaders of youth groups.
· Working with leaders, plan and implement youth group meetings and activities.
· Communicate with parents through newsletters and meetings as needed.
· Plan, coordinate and lead mission trips
· Encourage and help implement involvement at conference-level camps and retreats
· Coordinate and/or teach Confirmation classes as needed
· Liaison with Youth Committee
RESPONSIBILITIES WITH CHILDREN
· Choose/create/implement a Sunday School curriculum
· Recruit and train teachers September—June
· Coordinate, lead and/or teach Sunday School classes
· Help coordinate activities for families with young children
· Liaison between Christian Education Committee, parents, teachers and church leaders
