Production Manager position is available at a fast-paced and growing agency focused on raising money for progressive non-profit organizations through direct mail campaigns.
We are seeking an experienced professional to be responsible for managing a large number of details related to print production and direct mail. You will be juggling projects, people and priorities—under deadline pressure. You will work with client consultants, graphic designers, printers and lettershops, in the creation, tracking, proofing and successful mailing of thousands of pieces of mail each week for progressive non-profit and political organizations.
The Production Manager will closely monitor each job —from start to finish—for consistency, clarity of instructions, typos, timely arrival of materials and data and drop dates. The Production Manager must be self-directed as well as able to work with others, continually moving forward on multiple simultaneous projects.
Skills/Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
* Strong eye for detail
* Ability to think on your feet, problem-solve, be diplomatic, and be resourceful
* 3-5 years experience in direct mail marketing, print and lettershop production or project management—ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED
* Proven ability to meet deadlines
* Exposure to multiple types of printing and lettershop processes, and variable data base fields
* Experience working with a variety of out-sourced vendors
* Excellent communication and proofing skills
*Computer proficiency in Windows & Mac environment
*Must have good organizational skills and ability to prioritize and execute work under pressure, handling multiple tasks and interruptions.
*Working knowledge of USPS guidelines and procedures a plus!
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
* Copy proofing
* Tracking the creation and approval of electronic artwork
* Maintaining job folders and sample files
* Sending out bid requests and calculating budget estimates
* Writing purchase orders and sending files to printers
* Proofing artwork before going to press
* Conducting meetings with client consultants to assess job status
* Approving invoices, controlling costs and reconciling expenses
* Being the primary production contact for consultants and being accountable for their mailings
* Writing merge/purge instructions
* Troubleshooting and resolving print and lettershop problems
