Description WHO WE ARE
Larkin Street Youth Services (LSYS) was founded in 1984 as a neighborhood effort to divert homeless and runaway youth from prostitution, drug dealing and theft in the Tenderloin/Polk Gulch area of San Francisco.
Through twenty-one programs operating out of eight distinct San Francisco locations, LSYS offers a comprehensive continuum of services designed to respond to youth's immediate, emergency needs, while encouraging them to participate in programs that provide the skills and resources necessary to move beyond street life for good.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Support key areas of fund development program, including the annual fund, and corporate and foundation relations, with the goal of increasing contributed income from private institutional and individual donors.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experienced development professional with a genuine interest in the mission of Larkin Street. Must be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of humor. Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with Director of Development, Executive Director, and volunteer leadership to support strategies and tactics to increase contributed income.

Excellent writing and communication skills required. Ability to interact with high-level volunteers and donors in a positive, professional manner. Must possess excellent public speaking skills and the capacity to represent the agency and its work in an articulate and effective manner in public settings among diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and as a member of the team and to manage diverse tasks at one time; attention to quality and detail and solid planning, and time management skills required.

JOB DUTIES
Working with the Director of Development, and appropriate program, finance and other development staff, the Development Coordinator has primary responsibility for the following functions:

1) Annual Fund Program (30%)
a) Under the direction of the Development Director, contribute to the agency’s annual fund program, providing support to the Executive Director and Development Director with individual donor cultivation and solicitation, including the development of fundraising strategies, correspondence, and individual donor research.

2) Individual Donor Acquisition and Stewardship (20%)
a) Write and coordinate production of all direct donor correspondence, including direct mail appeals and acknowledgements;
b) Under the direction of the Director of Development and with support with outside vendors, help craft strategy, identify targets and oversee implementation of donor acquisition program;
c) Work with Development Director, Board members and other volunteers to facilitate one-on-one donor relations through personal correspondence, phone calls, site visits and cultivation events.
d) With support from staff, manage and organize process and logistics for LSYS site visits.

3) Corporate and Foundation Grants Program (30%)
a) Under the direction of the Associate Director of Development, prepare and submit corporate and foundation grant requests up to $10,000 as specified in the grant submission schedule.
b) Develop and submit grant reports as required to corporate and foundation donors providing general operating support.

4) Religious and Civic Group Fund Development (10%)
a) Identify sources and develop and implement an annual plan to secure funding from these organizations/groups, including public speaking engagements and preparation of funding proposals;
b) Maintain strong ongoing relations with these donor groups.

5) Other duties as assigned (10%)
a) Participate with other members of the Development staff on projects as needed and requested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
• 3 + years experience in a Development.
• Experience in Raiser’s Edge, highly desired.
