This position includes assisting the office manager, managing the presentation of the office, making financial arrangements, answering multiple phone lines, and collecting co-payments. You must have the ability to work well with little or no supervision. Multi-tasking is essential. Familiarality with the computer and word processing is helpful. Equally important is the ability to make independent decisions and provide continual feedback and information to the doctor and team members
We are a rapidly growing and expanding dental office looking for someone to run our front desk! We have three ttt rooms and intention to expand. We are looking for a highly experienced team member with the desire to be the face and voice of our business. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of front desk experience in a highly organized, high-energy dental practice.
You will spend 80% of your time preparing for patients to arrive,(morning huddle), greeting patients, updating patient information electronically, preparing treatment plans on-the-fly as the Dr. is explaining the options to the patient,
and collecting co-pays before the patient leaves! The remainder of your time
will be spent assisting us with account inquiries, sending letters to patients,
recall, and general office help.
You must have and be the following (skills):
Phenomenal communication skills both written and verbal
- Collecting co-pays, explaining account balances and presenting treatment plans is not easy, you should have extensive experience and be able to demonstrate your skills to us during an interview. Know how to deal with uncomfortable situations with patients and their payments. Talking on the phone is also not easy; you should be very comfortable with this as well.
Ø Be pleasant to our patients and fellow staff -
This is an obvious one but needs to be stated. We want high-energy, fun but serious, and dedicated teammates only!
Ø Ability to remember our patients –
make them feel as if they are part of our family. Know them when they arrive, know about important events in their lives, etc.
Ø Be highly organized! If we need a new system then create one! Every document, chart, file etc. should have a home or destination.
Ø Fully understand insurance claims and pre-determinations – Though you may not do them regularly, you should understand them
Ø Know how to use office management software , we will train but you need to have an understanding of how the systems work
Ø PC Computer skills – you must know how to use MS-Word, Outlook (or other e-mails systems), the world wide web (for benefits info), and a good understanding of how to navigate Windows XP. We can train some of this but you should be familiar with the basics
Ø Have amazing references – previous employers must speak very highly of you and note your great attention to patient comfort, your unwavering professionalism, and your dedication to your team!
Registered Dental Assistant (2nd position) Part Time or Full Time
Duties include chair side in all phases of dentistry, light front desk work, patient education, and sterilization. We’d like someone professional, enthusiastic, conscientious, and caring.
1. This position is essential in maintaining our four - handed dentistry procedures. In addition, the assistant will enable the dentist to make more efficient use of his/her time by carrying out specific tasks.
2. The assistant is required to wear a smock uniform provided by the Dental office.
3. The Dental Assistant is specifically responsible for keeping an up-to-date inventory of dental supplies and maintenance of all equipment.
4. The Dental Assistant will assist Dental Director in delegating maintenance and sterilization duties.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patient Contact:
Ø Seat and drape patient.
Ø Remove glasses and any prosthetic appliance the patient may have.
Ø Take blood pressure and record on chart.
Ø Explain plaque control to all new patients or those returning after long absences.
Ø Assist in insuring patient comfort and alleviating patient fears.
2. Preparations:
Ø Prepare operatory for patient reception and assure that it is as aseptic as possible for patient welfare.
Ø Position dental chair for proper patient reception and seating.
Ø Obtain materials and other necessary diagnostic and treatment items necessary for planned procedure.
Ø Have proper pre-set trays ready for anticipated procedure and work area organized for that procedure.
Ø Autoclave all instruments for next day.
3. Chair Side Duties:
Ø Prepare and ready anesthesia for transfer to dentist.
Ø Retract oral tissues to increase visual access into the oral cavity.
Ø Remove excess moisture from mouth by using hi-vac systems and/or air.
Ø Properly transfer instruments to dentist.
Ø Prepare and properly deliver any required restorative materials.
Ø Remove all instruments and prepare them for sterilization.
4. Dental Records:
Ø Verify that progress notes have been completed and signed by Dentist.
Ø Fill in day sheet with appropriate procedure.
5. Administrative Duties:
Ø After dental treatment, dentist or assistant escorts patient to receptionist with completed dental record in chart. Tell receptionist whether the patient will need another appointment or has completed treatment. If another appointment is needed, tell receptionist the procedure and the length of time required.
Ø Keep uninvolved people out of the operatories at all times.
Ø Quell disturbances in the waiting room, which may be disruptive to the patient and dentist.
Ø Keep a close watch on supplies and enter necessary items on order board.
6. Maintenance and Sterilization:
Ø Perform all opening, closing and maintenance procedures as described in sterilization and maintenance policies.
7. Extended Dental Assistant Chair Side Duties:
Ø Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models.
Ø Pour impressions with the proper stone and box them for transport to dental laboratory and bring out to the receptionist.
Ø Trim orthodontic models.
Ø Mount x-ray properly.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Be knowledgeable of the dental receptionist duties in order to fill in during absences. This requires knowing how to make appointments, correctly file charts, answer phones, and other related duties.
SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE:
1. The Dental Director and the Dental Program Manager supervise the Dental Assistant. In the operatory, the dentist supervises the assistant on procedures performed therein.
2. Evaluations are based on two criteria. The first is performance in major duties as assigned. This evaluation is based on the Dentists’ report of the Assistant's quality in performance. The second area, to be assessed by the Dental Program Director, covers attendance, attitude, appearance, ethics in the dental area, and initiative. Both areas are equally important and will be used to assess promotions, demotions, and dismissal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Training: Must possess 1 + years dental assistant experience. Must possess dental x-ray safety license.
2. Experience: Letters of recommendation or references are essential to substantiate experience.
4. Knowledge in all of the above assigned duties is required for four-handed dentistry and preventative dentistry for plaque control instruction.
