The Position
We are seeking a Data Warehouse Engineer that will be involved in design and development of a multi-source star schema data warehouse running over Oracle 9i RAC and the latest version of Business Objects XIR2.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and develop star schemas for data marts.
• Performance tuning the warehouse database.
• Physical implementation of star schema design.
• Backup and Recovery design of the data warehouse.
• Archiving and purging strategy of the warehouse
• Design star schema models for data marts and write the technical documents for the same.
• Design and develop the ETL processes to support the star schema design using OWB and Oracle workflow manager.
• Performance tuning of the database to support Business Objects reporting.
• Support of existing data warehouse processes.
• Design proper archiving and purging strategies within the warehouse.
• Design and implement backup and recovery of the data warehouse database.
• Metadata Management and develop Data Quality processes.
• Develop warehouse change control processes.
• Develop and maintain architecture, capacity planning and data strategy documents and present to team and peers.
• Assist with web analytics data needs and marketing data needs.
Skills and Abilities Needed:
• Strong grasp of data warehouse principles and expert in star schema physical implementation.
• Good knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL.
• Senior Warehouse development/DBA experience
• Performance tuning for a data warehouse environment.
• Knowledge of Linux shell scripting
• Knowledge of business objects
• Must know GAAP
• Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships
• Must be able to prepare comprehensive reports and represent ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 6-8 year of experience Oracle Development and DBA
