Every year there are more than half a million abused and neglected children across the country. They are all in need of nurturing environments. Too many spend years moving from one temporary home to another. They have no family to call their own. They are more likely than other children to face homelessness, unemployment, and even prison as adults. That's where CASA steps in.
CASA was created to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained volunteer advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court.
CASA volunteers are ordinary people who are committed to doing what is best for youth. We welcome volunteers from all cultures, professions, and ethnic and educational backgrounds, and are especially in need of dedicated, caring adult volunteers who have a desire to work with these children. All our volunteers are trained in courtroom procedure, social services, the juvenile justice system, and can identify the special needs of abused and neglected youth.
Men, and people of color are especially needed and encouraged to apply.
