I'm a full time student at Santa Clara University. I offer guitar lessons out of my dorm for beginners of all ages. Lessons focus on tab, not so much theory (i don't teach reading, although i have 6 years of classical and jazz training in various woodwinds).
What usually happens with students is I teach them until they get a good handle on my material and how to approach learning guitar and what styles they might be interested in looking into as they move on. I find that most beginners prefer this general approach as opposed to a biased, tedious, and often discouraging approach with an instructor in theory and traditional notation. From there, students can move on to more advanced lessons with other instructors, learning things like theory.
I also have two years of experience giging in rock and latin rock bands: Volút and Banda Reventon. I have a demo available for sampling too.
I cover styles like rock, grunge, alternative, classical, latin, jazz, prog, metal, punk, etc.--all of which are taught using tab.
I have openings available Monday thru Friday in the evenings. Lessons: $15 per 1/2hour; $25/hr.
I have a 48hr courtesy notice policy whereby any student who does not show up to a scheduled lesson and/or fails to cancel 48 hrs ahead of time is still responsible for the cost of that lesson.
Questions may be addressed to my e-mail: sleeper_sin86@hotmail.com
I look forward to teaching you.
Thanks,
-Adam
