POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities include performing routine and specialized client- billable tasks to assist clients, attorneys, and legal assistants. Expected to exercises independent judgment and initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Maintains case management systems and client filing. Maintains client specific work records in alphabetical, numeric, and/or chronological order.
• Reviews deposition testimony. Circulates correspondence, memoranda, and pleadings to attorneys and/or legal assistants.
• Tracks receipt and expert review of deposition testimony. Retrieves and refiles documents requested by attorneys and/or legal assistants.
• May prepare deposition summaries.
• Prepares document production privilege logs. Supervises photocopying or microfilming projects, including quality assurance.
• Prepares expert witness binders for discovery and trial.
• Prepares trial exhibits. Participates in automated litigation support projects, including document coding.
• Assists legal assistants with various aspects of trial preparation.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors; including messenger services, photocopying services, document repositories.
• Creates and affixes bates labels to documents for production.
• Locates documents, files, and other items for attorneys and others.
• May perform jury verdict searches.
• May calendar depositions and other discovery related events.
• May review briefs for accuracy of factual information.
• May review medical records.
• May be asked to retrieve or photocopy files from court or other public agencies.
• May direct Records Assistants to perform actual file maintenance.
• Participation in department meetings.
• Performs other administrative tasks that may be requested.
• Enters client-billable time into automated system, reviews for accuracy; makes corrections.
EDUCATION
High-school diploma required. College degree preferred; will consider equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE
One-year work experience at a large law firm a plus. Requirements may vary from time to time, depending on needs of the Firm.
OTHER SKILLS
Observe confidentiality of client and firm matters. Perform high-school/junior college level mathematical calculations to verify information on forms and documents. Problem solving skills to locate missing items and offer suggestions to improve procedures

Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine, etc.

Must be able to deal with stress associated with a fast paced work environment, including handling multiple tasks on a daily basis. Must be able to make judgment decisions and handle daily, routine responsibilities. Must be able to adapt to changing work situations and grasp and apply new ideas. Must be able to communicate with various personalities at all levels of management and staff.
